Program Team

The University of Maryland is working with a variety of different departments to ensure the success of its NextGen Energy Program. Each team has played, and will continue to play, an instrumental role in supporting our mission to secure high-quality and sustainable energy services for the university’s campus. 

More information on the respective departments involved in the NextGen Energy Program can be found below.

  • FACILITIES MANAGEMENT Provides day-to-day management of the program and will support eventual oversight of the plant.
  • DIVISION OF ADMINISTRATION Responsible for bringing together and overseeing the diverse groups related to the NextGen Energy Program and ensuring that they are continuing to advance the program effectively.
  • DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY, SUSTAINABILITY AND RISK (ESSR) Provides leadership and expertise in the identification and management of safety and environmental risks to foster safety and sustainability on campus. Consists of subject matter experts on sustainability best practices and advisors to ensure that the NextGen Energy Program advances the university’s carbon reduction efforts.
